I'm Baaaaaaaackkkkk.....

Well, it's been quite a while since I blogged!!! Life (basically work) has been crazy busy. I'm going to really try to make a whole hearted effort to blog more. Hey, getting stuff off of your chest on a free blog is way cheaper than a shrink, right???? Anywho, back to the crazy busy work life ... I am a paralegal. I know what you're thinking -- sounds exciting and glamorous. NOT! I am nothing but a glorified secretary. I have worked for the same guy for 18 years. It's like having a "home" husband and a "work" husband. In the summer of 1999, he and a few other attorneys from the firm we were at decided to venture out on their own and start a firm. Well, wasn't that exciting. NO!!! See, there were four attorneys two "paralegals". Well, us "paralegals" had to learn billing/bookkeeping, payroll and all sorts of other fun and crucial stuff. Mind you, this is all IN ADDITION to the legal work we were to do. Oh the joy of it all. (Can you hear the sarcasm, here???) Well, for two blissful years, we drove ourselves frantic. As a side note, in February 2000, my mom had a stroke and existed in a vegetative state for the next 15 months and hubby (who was not my hubby at the time) and I bought a house. It's a wonder I have any hair left on my head. I truly think I should have pulled it out!!! But, alas, I digress ....

So, after two years of doing just about everything but scrub toilets (and there were times when she or I had to do that, too) we finally hired someone to do the billing and bookkeeping. Trish (my co-worker and "partner in crime" so to speak) and I were doing the happy dance and singing the praises of our bosses that they had hired someone to do tasks we completely despised. Fast forward to January 2008. Said employee misses almost a month for gall bladder surgery between January and February. In the middle of March she gives her notice that she's found another job. Doesn't even give two weeks notice because she wants to start on April 1 at the new place so SHE can have two weeks to train with the person SHE is replacing. So, now Trish and I are back to doing the billing/bookkeeping that we haven't done in five years. In addition, of course, to the the mounds of legal work needing done.

So, I guess at this point in time I am slightly cranky with my work life. It will get better eventually and I will suck it up and deal with it, but it feels good to vent.

Well, this is where it all happens. This is my stamp area. Of course it NEVER looks like this. I bought the new white tables a few months ago and had to clean it So, in honor of this once in a lifetime occassion, I took a picture. (And now I have honest proof that it did once look clean and organized)!!!!

Meet Sophie ...

I would like to introduce you to my fur baby, Sophie. She my 11 year old toy poodle. Just an FYI ... she has had the white markings since she was born. Poodles are supposed to be solid, but she's marked. As you can see from the picture, she even has white eyebrows. Can you tell I'm a proud "Mama"???? Shhhhhh ... just don't tell hubby that I posted her picture first. I just don't have any digital pics of him at the moment so Sophie gets first billing!!!!

Welcome

Welcome to Handmade By Hope. Everyone has a blog, so I got to "keep up with the Joneses", right? I'm guessing this will be boring for a while until I get the "hang" of it. Bear with me. Hopefully someone will find some enjoyment in this.
